5 Ford Escape Improvements That Make It Worth Upgrading

November 22nd, 2019 by

With new models coming out every year, it’s hard to know which cars are worth upgrading to and which are essentially the same as previous releases. To put it simply, the 2020 Ford Escape is worth the upgrade. Here are five improvements that will make it totally worth it.

Hybrid Trim Option
The Escape Sport Hybrid trim is new with the 2020 model year. This means you can get the space and capability of an SUV with the fuel economy of a hybrid. A 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine is paired with an electric motor and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This new engine battery is much smaller than those used with previous models, which allows for more cargo space. There is also a plug-in version of this hybrid available for even better fuel efficiency.

Improved Gas Power
A 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine comes standard with the base trim levels pf the 2020 Escape and provides automatic start and stop technology. When you stop your vehicle the engine automatically shuts off so you’re no longer using gas to sit at a long stoplight or while you’re stuck in traffic. As soon as you release the brake pedal, the engine automatically starts up to provide a seamless shift into gear and get you moving forward again.

The new 2-liter EcoBoost engine is available on higher trims and provides the same stop and start technology plus an eight-speed SelectShift transmission. This transmission allows the driver to choose what kind of ride they want each time they get behind the wheel. For example, you can enjoy some extra kick with Sport mode when you’re in the mood.

Better Handling
An advanced all-wheel drive system is now available with every trim. This new system offers a disconnect feature that will automatically disengage the all-wheel drive when it’s not necessary. This means control and traction when you need it and better fuel efficiency when you don’t.

Upgraded Towing Capability
When the 2-liter EcoBoost engine is equipped with the available Class II Trailer Tow Package, the 2020 Ford Escape offers up to 3,500 pounds of towing capability. With the 1.5-liter engine, you’ll have 1,500 pounds of towing capacity to work with. Don’t underestimate the hybrid engine. This powerfully efficient engine offers a 2,000-pound towing capacity.

New Standard Safety Features
Every 2020 Ford Escape comes with several advanced safety features that were previously only available on upper trim options. These features include automatic high beams, pre-collision warning with automatic braking assistance, lane keeping assistance, and a blind spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alerts. the pre-collision warning system will alert the driver if a potential collision is detected and can even apply the brakes to reduce impact or avoid the collision altogether, if necessary.
