Introducing the New 2020 Ford Explorer

New for 2020
The Ford Explorer has gotten a new refresh for 2020 with a full redesign. The SUV has expanded the cargo area and increased the space for passengers, providing a more comfortable ride. The Explorer has had additional technology systems added along with helpful features to assist the driver. With rear-wheel drive in place, the SUV has also upgraded its handling and towing capabilities.

Exterior
The Explorer is offered in four trims which include the XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum. Trims are available with either four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. The SUV is available in an array of colors and has available features such as a rear lip spoiler, rear step bumper, rear cargo power liftgate, trailer hitch, roof rack, and heated door mirrors.

Performance and Power
The 2020 Explorer XLT and Limited come with a 2.3-liter inline-4 engine and 10-speed automatic with overdrive and auto-manual transmission producing 300 horsepower. The ST and Platinum are fitted with a 3.0-liter V-6 producing 365 horsepower and supported by a 10-speed automatic with auto-manual transmission with overdrive. The SUVs estimated EPA fuel economy ranges from 23 mpg to 25 mpg with a combined rating of 24 mpg for all trims.

Interior
The six-seat SUV is upholstered in premium cloth or leatherette material. Seating includes standard and optional features such as two-way power driver and passenger seat with lumbar support, driver and passenger heated seat backs, power reclining driver seat, rear captain’s chairs, leather steering wheel, and concealed cargo storage.

Entertainment features help enhance travel time and the Explorer has plenty to keep everyone engaged. Regardless of where you are, you’ll have access to the FordPass Connect system with 4G LTE Wi-Fi. There’s a real-time weather display so you know what’s up ahead weather-wise. A primary touch screen monitor is easily accessible and wireless phone connectivity keeps you in touch with friends and family. There’s also SiriusXM AM/FM satellite radio with seek-scan, a Sync system, voice activated radio, and an entertainment system with DVD and digital media.

Safety Features
The Explorer has an array of safety features for both the vehicle and its passengers with systems to assist the driver in having a safer drive. Some of the standard features for vehicle safety include front and rear ventilated disc brakes, side-impact bars, electronic stability control with anti-roll, anti-lock braking system with driveline traction control, immobilizer, security system, panic alarm, and break resistant glass.

The driver has access to perimeter/approach lights, remote key-less entry, brake assist, daytime running lights, tailgate/rear door lock, the Ford Co-Pilot360 system which includes automatic emergency braking, and forward collision mitigation.

Passenger safety features include rear child safety locks, dual front side impact air bags, dual front air bags, manual adjustable front head restraints, two adjustable rear head restraints, knee air bag, and a safety canopy system curtain overhead air bag for all rows of seating.
